Mira Chika: The Journey of a Dance Trailblazer

Miracle Chika Chioma Akashili

  1. I, Mira Chika, started dancing at the age of 11 at DGS Dance Academy, which was sponsored by my mom.
I began dancing professionally in 2016 but had to stop in 2018 due to personal reasons. I resumed on December 10, 2023. Returning wasn’t easy because the dance industry had progressed significantly. I had to start again as a beginner, but the beautiful part was that I still had my foundation. I later attended a dance camp and resumed training on February 14, 2024, where I participated in a video shoot and connected with other dancers. On October 7, 2024, I met someone with whom I shared my vision. He has been incredibly supportive, and we started dating on October 13, 2024, and are still together to date.

  1. Dancing has always been my passion since childhood. I used to lead dance performances as a child and actively participated in dance-related activities. Dancing has always been my thing.

  2. My major dance style is hip-hop, but I also do Afro, Bollywood, and other genres. Freestyle, however, is not really my strong suit.

My Influences and Mentors

  1. I look up to several dancers, including Big Veycen and others.
  2. Big Flow and Big Max have trained me, alongside Avceen, Kaffy, and Dance Sex.
  3. I constantly meditate and stay updated with the latest trends. Dancing has become such a part of me that even in my sleep, I feel like I’m dancing.

Preparation and Experiences

  1. My preparation depends on when a show is coming up. The moment I hear about it, I immediately get ready to deliver my best performance.
  2. I’ve had notable roles, such as being the main character in 2013 and again in 2019.

Lessons Learned

  1. As we grow, patience, focus, hard work, pain, and joy are essential. If you can stick to these, you’re on the right path.
  2. It’s easy to enter a relationship, but staying focused is critical. My dance career contributed to my failed marriage. As a dancer, it’s crucial to choose a partner who matches your energy.
  3. Finding opportunities in the dance industry is challenging. Besides talent, you need to stand out and look your best. Personally, I love African styles, and I think I’m the only Mira who has gone this far in the field.

What Dance Means to Me

  1. Dance is my only true passion and source of fun.
  2. Sometimes I cry because words fail me when I try to explain my love for dance.
  1. I adore my team, Mercury, because of their immense support. The team includes Mama Esther, Adaeze, Nana, Rex, Nax, Boss Ladi, Ope, Cisco, and Gedi of Lagos.

Goals and Aspirations

  1. My dream is to own a dance studio and build a team that will achieve great things.
  2. Absolutely, I believe it’s possible!
