Man Arrested for Stealing and Slaughtering ₦200,000 Goat for Daughter’s Naming Ceremony
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended Akintoye Waris for allegedly stealing and slaughtering a goat worth ₦200,000 in the Odeda area of the state. The stolen goat was reportedly used to prepare meals for his daughter’s naming ceremony.

The incident occurred on December 25, 2024, when Waris and his accomplice, Ajayi Yusuf, allegedly trespassed onto a farm while its owner, Mark, was out grazing cattle. Upon returning, Mark noticed the disappearance of one of his goats and raised the alarm. Community members reported seeing the suspects transporting the goat on a motorcycle.
Police Investigation
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that officers from the Odeda division arrested the suspects on Thursday. During interrogation, Waris and Yusuf confessed to stealing the goat and admitted to slaughtering it two days later. The goat’s meat was reportedly used to prepare food for a naming ceremony held in the Olodo community.
