Thai woman Wilawan Emsawat, 35, has been arrested for allegedly filming herself having s£x with Buddhist monks and extorting nearly £9 million using the footage.
Nicknamed Sika Golf, she’s accused of having secret affairs with 13 monks and laundering the money received. Police found explicit videos on her phones, with several monks still in their robes.
According to Bankokbiznews, Emsawat reportedly raked in almost a staggering £9million after using video footage and images of her encounters with senior religious figures to extort money.
The scandal gained attention after a top monk fled to Laos when exposed. Shortly after, the real reason for his mysterious emerged. The 53-year-old monk had allegedly been in a secret relationship with Wilawan, who claimed to be pregnant and demanded a huge £179,000 from him.
Nine monks have been disrobed so far.
Since police seized Wilawan’s phones, some monks have already confessed to being involved in long-standing affairs with her, a blatant violation of their sacred vow of celibacy.
The case has sparked debate over accountability and gender bias in Thai Buddhism.
