A South Sudanese tourist has sparked online conversations after revealing that her visit to Nigeria played a major role in helping her overcome depression.
In a widely shared video, the woman whose identity remains unknown opened up about her mental health journey, crediting the change in environment for her emotional recovery. She encouraged others in her home country struggling with similar issues to consider traveling to Nigeria.
With a bright smile, she said, “You’re not really depressed you just need a trip to Nigeria. I used to think I was depressed, but ever since I boarded that flight to Nigeria, the feeling is gone.”
Her heartfelt message has triggered mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing both pride and surprise at the unexpected praise. While some applauded the positive spotlight on the country, others reacted with skepticism, questioning whether travel alone can resolve deep-seated emotional issues.
Nonetheless, her story has added a new dimension to conversations around mental health and the healing power of travel.

Reactions from Nigerians
@insanespotter: “People from other African countries always enjoy their time in Nigeria, none ever call it boring. But some Nigerians, driven by hate for certain individuals, keep demarketing their own country.”
@Coachbenjamin_: “You mean the Nigeria I’m living in? 😑 No try am pls.”
@donpanacio: “I will say it again on this platform that the best marketers of Nigeria 🇳🇬 are non-Nigerians living abroad! Well, they say you don’t value what you have. A growing economy like Nigeria with such population is not a curse but a window of opportunity for those who are smart enough!”
