Nigerian blogger Tosin Silverdam has reacted to celebrity designer Veekee James Atere’s recent relationship advice, sparking conversations online.
Veekee James, a renowned fashion designer, went viral after sharing a video where she suggested that many women could find marriage if they lowered their standards for a tall, attractive, and financially stable partner. The video garnered mixed reactions on social media, including a response from Tosin Silverdam.
Silverdam shared his thoughts in a video posted on his page, criticizing Veekee James for advising singles about marriage. He argued that her advice lacked credibility due to her limited experience, as she has been married for less than two years.
According to Silverdam, only individuals with significant marital experience, such as 10 years or more, should be offering advice on such matters. Even then, he emphasized that longevity in marriage doesn’t necessarily mean someone has all the answers.
In his own words:
"Veekee James is not the one to be advising singles about marriage. When did she even get married? Has it even been two years? What does she even know about marriage? She’s still fresh. You can start advising people about marriage when you’ve spent 10 years in it. Even 10 years does not guarantee anything."
He further added:
"We know the story sha, all these things she’s saying about how she met Femi and everything—she’s not the person to be advising anyone."
The blogger’s response has fueled further debate about who is qualified to give advice on marriage.
