Court Remands Salesgirl For Stealing Sandal, Slippers, Purses In Osun

A teenage sales girl, Blessing Muhammed, and one other, Idris Ojochenemi, have been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing from their employer.

Muhammed, aged 18; and Ojochenemi, 32, worked with Olusola Olayade, their employer, till they were arrested for the alleged crime.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, informed the court that the duo committed the offence on May 7, 2021, at about 5pm at Number 34, Orisunbare Market, Old Garage area, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The charge against them read that “Blessing Muhammed and Idris Ojochenemi, on the same date, time and place, did steal the sum of N394,500; one Zara sandal valued at N8,000; two teddy purses valued at N7,000; one Rite Vick slippers, valued at N8,000; one multi coloured shoe and bag valued at N24,000; all valued at N448,500,000, property of one Olayade Olusola Grace.”

Kayode said that the defendants committed offences contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and stealing without having legal representations.

Magistrate A. Ajala granted bail to the two defendants in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety each in like amount.

He ruled that the surety must be a civil servant not below grade level 8 or a house owner in the state who must deposit the house documents to the court.

The duo, however, could not meet the bail conditions.

They were remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre and the matter was adjourned till March 8 for hearing.
