Is It Wrong For An Artiste To Sample A Classic Song For His Album?

The new trend in the industry is the idea of an artiste sampling a classic song that was recorded by another artiste as his.

Recall the issue of Jay Z and Mode Nineboth sampling Nina Simone’s 1966 classic titled Four women.

However, this time the case is that of Starboy Wizkid who just released his new EP Sounds From The Other Side (SFTOS).

Turns out Wizkid actually interpolated late Reggae legend Bob Marley’s ‘Ride natty ride’ on track 3 titled ‘Naughty Ride’ which featured American music trio Major Lazer.

The question is; is it ideal to pick a classic song and re-fix it as yours?
