At the young age of 27, Mohbad, also known as Imole, tragically passed away on the 12 of September 2023. Numerous of his supporters have pointed fingers at Naira Marley, alleging his involvement in Mohbad’s demise.

How Did Mohbad Die?

Reports indicate that Mohbad’s untimely demise is attributed to a severe ear infection. Sources from the singer’s team revealed that Mohbad sought medical attention in the early hours of Tuesday, September 12, and received an injection as part of his treatment.

The source further explained that Mohbad was admitted to the hospital due to injuries, but unfortunately, he “reportedly lost consciousness and did not regain it.”

Additional reports suggest that the singer succumbed to a middle ear infection known as Otitis. This condition leads to significant redness, swelling, and an accumulation of excess fluid in the eardrum.

Mohbad Once Attempted Committing Suicide

During a conversation with renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, Bella Shmurda, a fellow singer and close friend of the late Mohbad, disclosed that Mohbad once grappled with suicidal thoughts but was fortunately intervened by his friends.

Bella Shmurda recounted a specific incident, stating,

“There was a moment when Mohbad and I were in an apartment, and he expressed a desire to jump from an upper floor due to the challenges he was facing with his record label.

We managed to hold him back by the window. It was then that his girlfriend entered the room and found him seated by the window.”

Who Is Mohbad?

Born as Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, MohBad was a notable Nigerian artist recognized for his multifaceted abilities as a rapper, singer, and songwriter.

He left an indelible mark on the music industry, captivating audiences with his infectious tracks like “Ponmo,” “Feel Good” and the chart-topping “KPK (Ko Por Ke)”

His distinctive style and lyrical finesse distinguished him in the Nigerian music landscape, propelling him to stardom swiftly. MohBad’s actual name became synonymous with catchy hooks and memorable tunes, endearing him to fans of contemporary Nigerian music.

Although his passing at the age of 27 left a void in the industry, his musical legacy persists, ensuring he is fondly remembered.

How Mohbad And Naira Marley Trouble Started

Mohbad’s management announced his exit from Naira Marley’s record label on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, as his legal team released a statement asserting that Mohbad’s exit was as a result of the constant attacks he received, which were allegedly orchestrated by Naira Marley, and unpaid royalties since 2019.

Mohbad exit from the record label comes weeks after he took to Twitter on October 5, to reveal bloodied bodies, claiming that it was as a result of being assaulted by the Marlian crew because he requested to have his manager changed.

“Just because I want to change my manager who is their brother, see what they did to me at Marlian House,” he had tweeted, saying “World pls help me oo I’m dying inside.”

Revealing that he was at the hospital for a CT Scan for head impact and chest X-ray as a result of the assault, he added “I’m not high oo cos that is what dey always say just to die down everything.”

Mohbad accused Naira Marley of being present during the assault and doing nothing to stop it.

The artiste also accused Marlian Music record label of refusing to pay him his royalties from monetized intellectual content and advances as mutually agreed since 2019.

“In contravention of the terms of the arrangement between our client and yourself, you have failed to pay any advances as mutually agreed by both parties since 2019 till date;

“You have also failed to pay all royalties due our client from all his intellectual property works monetized, released and utilised by you from 2019 till date,” the document read.

Mohbad has over two million followers on Audiomark and millions of views on YouTube.

Mohbad’s death comes as a shock and an immense loss to the Nigerian music industry, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by fans and peers alike.
